Paul Dyer Obituary

Paul F. Dyer Sr.
November 7, 1927 - May 7, 2023
Paul F. Dyer Sr., 95, of Wallingford, CT, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Masonicare Health Center.
Paul was born in Portland, ME, November 7, 1927, the only son of the late Fred L. and Catherine (McCoy) Dyer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving 14 months in Germany. He moved to Connecticut in the mid 1950s, and settled in Wallingford in 1960 where he raised his family. Paul retired from AVCO Lycoming after working for the Town of Wallingford in the CETA program, as well as several local companies. He organized Wallingford Girls Junior Softball League and served as President. He coached Yalesville Boys Little League, and was President of the Yalesville Babe Ruth in 1984. He enjoyed spending time with his family, had a keen interest in aviation and railroading. He was an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan and loved rehashing their games. He also enjoyed a good game of golf and occasionally hit the tennis courts and bowling alley back in the day. Paul enjoyed singing in the choir and at various functions at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wallingford, St. Roses Church, and most recently at St Mary's Church, both in Meriden.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Peggy; his grandchildren Kaitlyn and Matthew Dyer, Jennifer and her husband, Thomas Cristaldi, Michelle Dyer and her fiancé, Varun Konanki. He was predeceased by his son, Robert P. Dyer; and his four sisters, Helena, Rita, Frances and Dorothy.
Paul's family would like to express their sincere thank you and appreciation to Masonicare's Ramage 4 staff, including Courtney, Loryn, the Rehab staff and all the nurses and CNAs involved in Paul's care. A special heartfelt thanks to Lorrie, Grace, Deanna and Heather (He's my grampy Heather). We also appreciate Kathy from Masonicare Home, Health and Hospice for his end of life care and the comfort she provided.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Saturday, May 20th, from 11am to 1 pm. Interment will be private at the State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown CT.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your beloved Paul. I worked at Saint Mary Church, Meriden, for many years and I knew Paul. May the God he loved have mercy on his soul, and may Paul rest in peace. Paul, and you, will be in my prayers.

It was a privilege caring for Paul. He was always so cheerful and welcoming to staff and appreciated the help and any visits to him. Paul lit up the room with his sweet smile and bright blue eyes. He will surely be missed.
