Richard A. "Dick" Greig 80, of West Haven beloved husband of 60 years to Lorraine Willemsen Greig who were married in 1960 passed away to his eternal peace in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by family who lifted him up in love and prayer on April 21, 2021 at his home. Loving father of Kevin (Laura) Greig of Indiana, Kimberly (Raymond) Duchesne of Meriden, Jeff (Calvin Interino) Greig of Middletown and Cathy (Chet) Sawicki of West Haven. Grandfather of Jeffrey (Caitlin) Greig, Brian Greig, Stephanie (Jordan) Lermond, Steven (Samantha Klett) Duchesne, Jesse (John David) Loyola, Joseph, Mariana and Dieurida Duchesne and Rachael, Allison and Jason Sawicki. Great grandfather of Lilia, Rosie and Shiloh Greig. Dick is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Brother of Barbara Nicholson, Delores (John) Freeman, Marian (Allen) Belgarde, Sherry Stevens, Karen Corbett, William (Dolores) Greig and Fred (Mary Elizabeth) Greig. Dick was born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 29, 1940 son of the late Frederick and Cora Sinke Greig. Prior to his retirement Dick was a research chemist for the National Marine Fisheries. He graduated from Lee High School in Wyoming, MI class of 1958, Bachelor's in chemistry from Aquinas College and Masters in chemistry from Eastern Michigan University. Dick was passionate about serving others through his volunteer work as a Cub Scout Leader, CYO leader, CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Respite Caregiver, food pantry organizer at Beacon on the Hill, WHEAT and Connecticut Food Bank, Loaves & Fishes, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very active and enjoyed many hobbies most of all fishing as well as tennis and golf. He was a member of OLOV church softball and bowling teams, a bridge club member for many years and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 830 Jones Hill Rd. West Haven TUESDAY morning at 11:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. West Haven at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be private. Friends may call TUESDAY morning from 9:30 to 11:30.
