Robert Carlson Obituary
May 4, 1933 - May 29, 2025
Robert William Carlson Sr., 92, of East Haven, passed away May 29, 2025, at the VA Community Living Center in West Haven. He was born May 4, 1933, in New Haven, to Fridolf and Annie (Stankard) Carlson. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Linda (Rosiello) Carlson; and their three children, Lisa (Carlson) Gras, Robert W. Carlson Jr. (Maria) and Andrew Carlson (Gretchen); along with four grandchildren, Lola Carlson, Jonathan Carlson (Lena), Jessica (Carlson) Aham (Calvin) and Jared Carlson. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Emilia Mei Carlson.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Fridolf and Annie Carlson, and siblings: Bernice Bellucci, Jean Ackerson, Viola Gill, Patricia Coppola, and their spouses.
A lifelong resident of East Haven, Bob graduated from East Haven High School in 1951, with the aspirations of attending college. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, during the Korean War and achieved the rank of a Corporal. Upon being Honorably Discharged, he began working as a sheet metal smith for Pratt and Whitney and was a loyal member of the UAW for over 36 years. He was also a lifetime member and volunteer firefighter at Bradford Manor Fire Station in Momauguin. He was also a proud member of the VFW Post 2090.
Family will receive friends from 9 AM until 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, CT. His funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private with full U.S. Military Honors at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to any military organization or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis TN 38105, in memory of Robert Carlson.
