Robert Joseph Hying, 93, of North Haven, CT, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side. Robert was born in Richland Center, WI, the son of the late Sebastian and Celestine (Coyne) Hying. He grew up in Muscoda, WI. Robert served his country faithfully and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked at Marlin Firearms Co. for many years until his retirement. He was a devout Catholic, an animal lover, and an avid reader of American history. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, but was a committed fan of the New York Yankees. Above all else, he loved being surrounded by his adoring family. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary Curran Hying; two children, Robert Joseph Hying, Jr. and Elizabeth "Lisa" Albano and her husband Kevin; two grandchildren, Mary E. Albano, Kevin P. Albano and his wife Lauren.
He is also survived by his siblings Virginia Mullholland, Rosemary (Tony) Misslich, and Lynn (Edwin) Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Francis V. Hying, Lawrence Hying and two sisters, Dorothy Lomasney and Dolores Badr. Robert's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Veterans Administration, All About You Home Care, and Constellation Hospice for their care and compassion.
The visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 14th from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Wednesday morning at 11:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. www.northhavenfuneral.com
