ROBERT McCARTHY Obituary

McCARTHY, ROBERT E. Robert E. McCarthy, 88, of Northford, the beloved husband of Faith Augur McCarthy for 60 years, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2016. Bob was born in Natick, Massachusetts to the late Julia and Wilfrid McCarthy. Bob earned his Bachelor’s degree from Boston College and his Master’s degree from Fairfield University. He served in the United States Air Force, and was employed in management at Pratt and Whitney. He spent most of his career at Harco Laboratories in Branford in various management positions until his retirement at age 80. Bob was dedicated to his family and enjoyed planning many wonderful trips around the world. Several of these trips included three generations. Bob served his church community of St. Augustine as one the first lay lectors and Eucharistic Ministers, a ministry he continued until very recently. He also served on the Parish Council. In addition to his wife, Faith, Bob is survived by his daughters: Patrice Kirshbaum and her husband Donald of Wallingford and Joann Oleynik and her husband Kenneth of Woodbridge. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lynn and Sara Kirshbaum and Colleen and Ryan Oleynik. He is also survived by three nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul McCarthy and his sister, Irene McCarthy Keenan. Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford on Monday, November 14th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15th at 10am at St. Augustine Church in North Branford. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Parish, 30 Caputo Road, North Branford 06471 or to Boston College, 140 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467. Sorry for your loss. We were neighbors for many years. Including my mother and father Frank and Irene Maturo..My sister Theresa Guidone. And myself and my husband Elizabeth and herb Larson. Wewould wave while Robert was working on the lawn. But we get older and time passes.YOU WERE A WONDERFUL COUPLE.May your faith give you comfort to get through this.
