BUTKIEWICZ, RONALD F. Ronald F. "Boots", "Silver Fox", "Big Ron", "RBUT" Butkiewicz, of West Haven, loving husband, father, and friend died July 15, 2012 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. He is the husband of Helen Margaret Valaitis Butkiewicz. Ron was born in New Britain August 8, 1934 son of the late Adam and Wanda Monko Butkiewicz and was a proud US Army veteran. He was a graduate of St. John Kanty Prep School in Erie, PA and Teacher's College in New Britain. Ron was a Fraud Investigator for the State of Connecticut for over 30 years. Ron was an extremely passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, Ted Williams, UCONN Men's and Women's basketball and his Polish heritage. He was a member of the Thaddeus Kosciuszko Society, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the IA Club of West Haven. Ron, both sports fan and athlete, loved to share his glory day moments. "A catch in right field by Ronnie Butkiewicz that is rated by both players and spectators as the greatest catch ever made on a softball diamond. The play was so great that a tennis match was suspended and the players and spectators there also cheered," posted in the New Britain Herald, July 1959. He is the loving father of Sue Gallimore and her husband Sean, Kristin Bonilla, and Laura Goldberg. Brother of the late Henry and Joseph "Yates" Butkiewicz. Loving grandfather of Jenny Goldberg, Casey Bonilla, Shane and Jeff Gallimore, Dayne Rayford, and Adam Goldberg. Also survived by his sons-in-law Ed Bonilla and Dr. Mark Goldberg, many nieces and nephews, including his favorite niece and fellow Red Sox fanatic Gina Capone. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Wednesday morning at 10 in St. Michael's Church, 29 Wooster Place, New Haven. Burial with military honors in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508.
