Elizabeth Lauffenburger Obituary

Elizabeth May Betty Dugas Lauffenburger, age 85, of Elizabeth City, NC was carried into the presence of her Lord and Savior November 6, 2014. She was born in Huntington, MA, May 12, 1929 to the late Henry and Winifred Dugas. Betty, as a teenager, gave her heart to the Lord, Born Again, at Jack Wertzens Camp in Scroon Lake, NY. Betty graduated from Huntington High School in 1946. She was third in her class, served as secretary to the school Principal and was class vice president. Betty attended Westfield State Teachers College. Before she married Ernest June 6, 1953, she was the office manager of the Huntington Electric Light Co. After their wedding they moved to Bainbridge, MD where Ernest was stationed in the Navy and attending Dental School. When Ernest was discharged from the Navy they moved to Cleveland, Ohio where Ernest attended Malone College to prepare to go into the ministry. They pastored for forty years with the Evangelical Friends Church, Eastern Region in Canton, OH before moving to Elizabeth City, NC Betty had a humble spirit; she was a blessing and inspiration to many. To her husband she was a strong supporter and encourager through their forty years of ministry. She was loved and respected by all. In 1996 she was named Mother of the Year in Van Wert, Ohio, an honor she never felt she deserved. She leaves behind her husband, Ernest, of sixty-one years; three children, Mark Joseph and wife, Debra of Poquoson, VA, Sharon Beth Michels and husband, Gary of Moncure, NC and David Ernest of Bristol, CT; one sister-in-law Nellie Dugas and seven grandchildren.
