SOPHIE C. MARECKI

1918 - 2017

Sophie C. Marecki, age 99 of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Edward P. Marecki Sr., died peacefully on June 19, 2017 at Birmingham Health Center, Derby. Born in Milford on June 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Karol and Frances (Kuharski) Pernal. Mrs. Marecki was a longtime resident of Ansonia and worked as an electrical technician at Sikorsky and Phillips Medical until her retirement. She was parishioner of St. Michael Church and a member of the Ladies Guild. Mrs. Marecki enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, volunteering at Polish picnics and fairs. She will be long remembered for her strong faith, her generosity, kindness, and love for her family. She is survived by her devoted sons, Daniel (Jane Holler) Marecki of Milford and Edward P. Marecki of R.I. and daughter-in-law, Beverley Marecki of Morris; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by son, Thomas E. Marecki; daughter-in-law, Judy Marecki; brothers, Peter and Stanley Pernal; and sister, Mary Barnash. Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
