Steven Zichichi Obituary

Steven D. Zichichi
July 25, 2003 - March 11, 2022
Steven D. Zichichi 18, of Killingworth passed away on March 11, 2022 from injuries sustained as a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. Steven was born in New Haven on July 25, 2003 beloved son of Salvatore D. and Noreen Fortin Zichichi Sr. of Killingworth. Loving brother of Salvatore D. (Kara) Zichichi Jr. of Branford, Albert C. Zichichi of Northford and his twin bother Drew C. Zichichi of Killingworth. Uncle of Jordan Zichichi and Bradley and Noelle Capobianco. At the time of his death, Steven was employed by Anytime Fitness of Deep River in membership sales. Steven's determination and perseverance carried with him throughout all aspects of his life. He enjoyed fitness, nutrition, snowboarding, biking, skateboarding, and spending time in Narragansett. He had a passion for film and photography. Quality time with family and friends meant the world to Steven. He was especially proud to be an uncle – always wishing to spend more time with his nephew, Jordan. His connection with his twin brother, Drew, was beyond compare. Steven was extremely driven and would accomplish anything he set his mind to. Most recently, he was following his passions as he worked towards attaining his license in personal training which would allow him to do what he did best, help others achieve their goals. Steven always had a positive outlook on life and would always say, "A smile is the most effective medicine." Steven may be gone from this earth, but his beautiful soul will always be remembered in all of our minds and hearts.
Family and friends are invited to go DIRECTLY to St. George's Church to celebrate A Mass of Christian Burial THURSDAY morning at 11:00. Interment will be private. Aunt Noreen, Uncle Sal and my cousins- I have been unable to think about anything but Steven and all of you these past few days. My heart is so heavy with sorrow and my mind so troubled with unanswerable questions. One thing is for certain though, and that is that Steven made the very most of his short time on Earth. He truly lived every day as though it were his last and made the most of every moment, opportunity and encounter. It´s easy to see that he wasn´t afraid to face a challenge and push himself to every limit. I hope that you are all able to continuously find Steven throughout life in those moments where you feel unable to carry on. Whether it be something as simple as pushing through a final rep at the end of a long workout or persevering through a more complex life event that comes along and tests you. I hope that each time you find yourself consumed by these moments that you find Steven there, coaching and guiding you through it with his humble smile. After all, it is pressure that makes diamonds. May Steven shine in the night sky like a bright diamond eternally. He is not gone because he lives in all of you. He still exists for he is still loved by all of us and he will forever leave an impact on the world and those lucky enough to have met him. Nothing can ever take that away and though there is nothing we can do now to change the way his story ended, we can continue to speak his name, tell his stories and live each day to the fullest for him. I know I will forever remember him and our tribe of legends up there in the sky.

This picture is from 3 weeks ago. Steven was our instructor for axe throwing. My family and I got to spend an hour with him, an hour of joking and good laughs. We loved him so much that we wanted to take a group pic with him. After our hour was up, we thanked him for everything and gave him a big hug. His smile was so contagious and I will never forget it. Even though we just met Steven, he definitely held a special place in our hearts. After that night, we all still talked about him and admired him so much that I was going to take my 12 yr old son back, just like he had told me to.
Learning of Steven's passing over the weekend has my family and I devastated. Our hearts are in a million pieces. Why such a young boy with so much to live for have to be taken away from his family and friends so soon?! I can't phantom the pain everyone is enduring at this time. He is a beautiful angel and we are so happy that we were able to meet Steven.
My thoughts and prayers are with Steven's family and friends. May God guide you through this difficult time

Dear Zichichi Family,
I have such fond memories of Steven as the cutest little first grader in my class. I will always remember him wearing his Abercrombie and telling me he had worn his older brother´s cologne to school. Steven was one of those students who you instantly fall in love with and that stays in your heart forever. I was so blessed to have shared a small portion of his journey. May the memories and love you have for Steven bring some comfort. We are holding your family in our prayers.

There simply are no words to describe the loss of Steven. I was just getting to know him. He was, above all, kind and warm to those he encountered. May these gifts to me... be a comfort to you in your time of loss. "Peace I leave with you. God´s peace I give to you."
