Susan Laudano
Susan Mary Hassett Laudano, 86, passed peacefully after a brief illness, on July 2, 2021, at her home in Orange, CT. She was predeceased by her wonderful husband of 61 years, Anthony B. Laudano. She was the daughter of the late Susanna Kochiss Hassett of Nichols, CT, and the beloved sister of the late Lois Kaczvinsky, formerly of Stratford, CT. Susan was the loving mother of her son, Anthony A. Laudano and Debra of Branford, CT, her daughter Sue-Ann and her husband Frank Malinconico of Old Saybrook, CT, and her son Nicholas J. Laudano and his wife Patrice of Chester, New Jersey. She was cherished by her grandchildren, Anthony, Justin, Nicholas B., Marco, Nicholas P. and Riana, as well as her great-grandson, Anthony Edward Laudano.
Born on May 13, 1935, in Bridgeport, CT, Susan was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in 1953 and the University of Connecticut in 1957. Susan was a resident of Woodbridge, CT from 1969 until 2004 and lived for ten years at Montgomery Village in North Branford, CT.
Susan was an active parishioner at Assumption Church in Woodbridge, CT. She often opened her home as a CCD instructor for her children and their classmates and would sponsor teens for Confirmation when needed. She enjoyed participating in many Ladies' Guild activities, Amity PTO meetings and community events in the town of Woodbridge, CT.
As a former Physical Education teacher, Susan loved to play sports. She was in a bowling league, a tennis league and was an avid golfer. She was a long-time member of Racebrook Country Club.
Friends and family may call at Iovanne Funeral Home, 11 Wooster Place, New Haven, CT on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 10:00 am until 12 noon. All are invited to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Center Road, Woodbridge, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation in respect to her late husband and son.
