Thomas Anastasio Obituary

Thomas J. Anastasio
August 26, 2021
Thomas J. Anastasio (74) of New Haven, CT died peacefully on August 26, 2021 at The Grimes Center in New Haven after a lengthy illness. He was the son of James and Marguerite (Gagliardi) Anastasio.
He is survived by his sister Charlotte Anastasio of New Haven, CT, nephews Robert, William, Edward, Richard (Sharon) and James Anastasio of New Jersey, James Juliano of Avon, CT, Frank (Nancy) Juliano of Morganton, NC, and many loving cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Mary Anastasio, PhD, Laura (Anastasio) Juliano, and brother James Anastasio, Jr. Tom also leaves
his much loved extended family, James, Debreeda and Rowe Pearson, Nia and Lance Jones, Terry Rountree and Eric Bost. And he leaves much love to Lynn Geist.
Tom graduated from The University of New Haven and received his teaching certification at Boston College. He dedicated his life to teaching in the New Haven school system where he was known as Mr. A. Nothing in Tom's life compared to the love and devotion he felt for those he mentored, coached, and supported over the years as they worked to reach their potential and goals in life. Tom's selfless devotion to improving and sustaining the lives of young people for decades serves as a reminder of the real values that are meaningful to us as human beings. In this sense, he was a role model for every person who had the good fortune to know him.
Tom was also extremely proud to be a life long, avid Boston Celtics and New York Mets fan.
Tom's family and friends would like to thank the staff at The Grimes Center and CT. Hospice, for the care and comfort provided to him. Tom often voiced how safe and comfortable he felt in their care. In particular they would like to thank Roxanne Ibrahim whose kindness and support helped Tom through many difficult days.
Donations may be made in Tom's name to the Jimmy Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via

A memorial service will be held at a time and place to be announced at a later date. The Celentano Funeral Home is handling his arrangements.

Mr. A, was my brother Frank and I's mentor, coach, father figure, friend, family since we were 10,11 years of age. When we relocated to the hill area, of New Haven, Connecticut. Up until, my brother frank can know longer travel anymore. He has welcomed, Mr. A into the heavenly realm. I know they are playing basketball, with rest of the family, that has gone on before him. I pray that they allow, him to rest for a little bit before they get him started again. I miss him already, my brother always kept me updated with Mr. A progress, good or bad. Even as I became an adult, I traveled a lot with my job. I was always informed. Mr. A, gave me my first job at the age of 13, and I hit the floor running even when I went to college at 16. He taught me work ethics, life lessons, how to face challenges with integrity. It's a lot more I can continue to say about Mr. A, just know that the Bostic family from Hallock Ave, in the hill area. Love and will always cherish all the memories, and all the lessons he taught us, for the rest of our lives. And will continue on in our children, we will miss him but, with a lot of smiles because of those memories. S.I.P. MR. THOMAS J. ANASTASIO, WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE, RESPECT, CHERISH YOUR LIFE! LISA C BOSTIC! My prayers go out continuously to his entire family: blood/ adopted family of New Haven, Connecticut!
