Timothy O'Keeffe Obituary

Timothy J. O'Keeffe PhD. of Ormond Beach, FL, formerly of North Haven, CT, departed this life on Jan. 19, 2024. He was born in Manhattan NY. on Feb. 16th, 1937 and grew up in Throgs Neck, in The Bronx, NY. He was a Professor Emeritus at Southern Connecticut State College where he taught English Literature from 1967 to 1994, winning an Eminent Scholar of the Year award in 1985. Tim enjoyed reading, classical music, soccer, swimming, his pets, and coaching his daughters. He spent his summers in Massachusetts working around his cabin which he began building in 1970. We will miss his Irish eyes, his charming wit, his sense of humor, and his disapproving eye roll. Tim is survived by his brother, David O'Keeffe PhD., his wife of 24 years Marilyn (Morris) O'Keeffe, son Timothy J. O'Keeffe, daughters, Maureen E. O'Keeffe, Anne K. Russell (John), and Kathleen M. O'Keeffe, grandson John A. Russell, and his former wife Annabelle (Huber) O'Keeffe. He is also survived by three stepsons, Edmund, Brian, and Karl Balducci, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held on March 9th, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL. Contributions in Tim's name may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association (apdaparkinson.org)

I worked with Tim at SCSU in the early 90s. He was always a gentleman and a scholar! He was always very well respected by all who worked with him and his students. Saddened to see he passed away. RIP Tim.
