Timothy M. Stevens, of Branford, passed away Wednesday, May 1, at his home in Branford. He was the husband of Gayle Stevens. He was the father of Amy Stevens (Mark Scanlan) of Branford and Timothy Stevens Jr. (Lea) of Rye, N.Y. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler, Chase, and Sophie Stevens-Scanlan and Ellie and Trey Stevens. Tim was born in New Haven on January 13,1943. His parents were Frederick M. After graduation and marriage, he joined the international Silver Company as the fifth generation in the Stevens family to work for this company. He ended his business career as the National Sales Manager for Oneida Silversmiths.
He attended the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT, where he played football, baseball and basketball, captaining an undefeated team in 1951. He then attended Southern Methodist University, where he met his wife, Gayle, of 55 years.
They settled in Branford, CT, where he was an active member of the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, serving as Golf Chairman, House Chairman, and President of the club. He was a passionate golfer and golf fan, and played golf all over the U.S. and Europe with his son, Chip.
His greatest passion was in spending time with his children and grandchildren and could be seen for decades at hockey rinks, dance recitals, soccer, football and baseball fields, not to mention countless birthdays and graduations. He was a constant presence in the life of his five grandchildren.
He was known his entire life for his hearty laugh and his ability to make others feel like the most important person in the room.
Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Branford. Burial of his urn will follow in Branford Center Cemetery. The W.S. Tim and I were fraternity rothers at SMU in Dallas as the world came unglued back in the sixties. Tim knew what he wanted. He pretty much got all of it! Tim had my back. He will be missed.

Gayle, so sorry to hear of Tim´s passing. He was a big part of my life when we both were young in PO. He was even an escort for one of my coming out parties. Such a handsome Face with an outgoing personality and hearty laugh.
