WILLIAM CIRMO Obituary

CIRMO, DR. WILLIAM F. Dr. William F. Cirmo, 81, of Cheshire CT and St. Augustine, FL passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born April 21, 1934, in New Haven, CT, to the late Marion (Sette) and Nicholas Cirmo. Dr. Cirmo graduated from St. Michaels College in Burlington, VT and the University of Vermont Medical School. Following a tour in the US Navy as a physician stationed at the Bethesda Medical Center and the New London, CT Submarine Base, he had a long and busy practice in Obstetrics Gynecology with Dr. Patrick T. O’Regan in Meriden and Wallingford, CT. With more than 33 years in practice, his wall displayed pictures of the smiling faces of over 8,000 babies he delivered. Retired in 2000, Dr. Cirmo loved the ocean view from the balcony of his condo in St. Augustine, FL and was a diehard fan of all the UCONN Huskies sports teams. He and his wife, Christine, enjoyed travelling the world, entertaining family and friends, gourmet cooking and growing his own fresh herbs and Datil peppers. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Christine Cirmo of Cheshire, CT. He was the brother of the late Angela Cirmo - Zimmer (George) of Hamden, CT, Raymond Cirmo of Hamden, CT and Ralph Cirmo of San Jose, CA. He is survived by eight loving children, William Cirmo (Sherry) of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Shuldman (Bennett) of Ridgefield, CT, Lisa Petterson ( William) of Guilford, CT, Nicholas Cirmo (Heather) of Alexandria, VA, Christine Fitzgerald (James) of Clinton, CT, Natalie Roberts of Cheshire, CT, Kelly Roberts-Haines (Timothy) of Meriden, CT, Sean Roberts (Jackie) of Elmira, NY and 14 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden from 4 - 8 p.m. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Dr. Cirmo’s name to the American Cancer Society, Lung Cancer Research Fund. To leave an online condolence please visit www.siskbrothers.com

I was just thinking of Dr Cirmo in Meriden. He delivered my first child. A healthy son in 1987.
When I became pregnant with second child, a girl, I was moving to Tampa,FL. He looked after me the first 5 1/2 months. She was born in Tampa. I loved his care and concern for mothers. We had some good laughs when I went for my visits as he had a great sense of humor to put you at ease.
May he RIP and he will always be remembered. Prayers

Dear Billy, Mary, Lisa and Nicky,

I just heard about your dad. I am so sorry. I will always remember growing up with the Cirmo's on Oaklawn Drive. Your dad certainly made those some fun years.

My condolences to all of you.

Heartfelt sympathies to the Cirmo family. He was more than just my doctor, he was a friend. He laughed with me, he cried with me, and helped bring my two beautiful children into this world. He will always have a place in my heart.

So sorry to hear of my favorite doctors passing. I just adored Dr. Cirmo--started seeing him when I was 18 and kept seeing him thru my pregnancies and beyond. He always made me laugh and he was just a happy and kind soul. I cried when I saw his picture here---I will never forget him. My condolences to his family. You were truly blessed-----he was a wonderful man.

My deepest condolences to the Cirmo family. He was one of a kind. Great doctor with an awesome sence of humor he also had a great passion for what he did and it showed by all the pictures of all the babies he delivered. Rest in peace Dr. Cirmo.

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Cirmo's passing. He delivered all four of my children and I was careful not to go into labor during a NYGiants football game! I continued to be a patient long after my childbearing years and was proud to see my personalized needlepoint hanging in his waiting room. My deepest condolences to you, Christine, and the family.
Sending love...

Dr. Cirmo delivered both my children. He saved my son's life when he was born a preemie at 1lb. 11oz. I loved his sense of humor and personality.

Dr Cirmo, (AKA Billy Boy), you were the kindest, caring, most compassionate Doctor I have ever had the pleasure of taking care of me and helping me to give birth to two wonderful boys. I will always remember your awesome sense of humor. I know the Lord has embraced you in his arms. Thank you for all the memories I have of you, you were like one of my older brothers, you had a way to make us feel like we were part of your family. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. God Bless you!!

To the Cirmo Family. So sorry to hear about Dr. Cirmo passing. He was my hero in the late 1960's when I was trying to conceive. He was kind and understanding and most of all so funny. I would go in his office nervous and apprehensive and he would crack a joke and completely relax me. He got me through a very hard time. When I finally delivered my son in late 1971 I couldn't thank him enough. He will be missed by so many. RIP dear Dr. Cirmo
