William Iovanna Obituary

WILLIAM J. IOVANNA SR.
William J. Iovanna, Sr., 79, of Branford, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Judith Proto Iovanna. Bill was born in New Haven on February 11, 1942, and was the son of the late William and Dorothy Ruggiero Iovanna. A graduate of Notre Dame High School, West Haven, Bill earned a bachelor's degree, master's degree and his 6th year certification from Southern Connecticut State College. Bill was a teacher for many years for the East Haven School System until his retirement. He was a member of the Wilsonian Men's Club, the Notre Dame High School Class of 1959 Alumni and the North Haven Youth Baseball League. Bill enjoyed fishing and was an avid UCONN Women's basketball, Boston Red Sox, and New York Giants fan. Father of William Iovanna (Karen) and Christopher Iovanna (Aiveen). Grandfather of Andrew, Austin, Alphonso, Stephen, and Ainsley Iovanna. Brother of Carol DiPietro. Also survived by a niece and nephew.
The visiting hours will be Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue. North Haven at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. www.northhavenfuneral.com
