PEARCE, WILLIAM A. William A. Pearce, 77 of Prospect, passed away on November 24, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice surrounded by his family. Bill was born in New Haven on December 5, 1937. He was predeceased by William H. Pearce and Mary Kaminski. He leaves behind his wife, Maryellen Pearce of Prospect, eight children, William Pearce, Jr. (Laura Jean) of Groton, Diane Pearce (Mark) of East Haven, Susan Pearce See (Russell) of North Haven, Anthony Pearce (Kathy) of East Haven, Joanne Pearce Fowler (Wade) of East Haven, Edward Mitchell (Christina) of Rockfall, Robert Mitchell of North Haven, and Michael Mitchell (Lynn) of Wallingford. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his brother Mark Carboni of Willis, Texas, and sisters Nancy Pearce McKenna of Livingston, Tx, and Sally Pearce Garbien of Carterville, Il, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill graduated from Fairfield Prep and attended Fairfield University. He was a brick mason, and an independent truck driver for 37 years working with J. R. Christoni for many of those years. Also, most recently working with his son, Anthony, at Country Portables. Bill and lifelong friend Benny, owned P&D Motorcyle Company in New Haven in 1965, racing motorcycles together at Daytona, as well as enjoying flying planes. Bill was an avid fan of other extreme sports, having participated in waterskiing, hang gliding, parasailing, go kart racing, racquetball, tennis, shuffleboard bowling tournaments, and up until very recently enjoyed playing ping pong at both North Haven and Wallingford Recreation Centers. Calling hours Friday evening November 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:30 at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in East Haven on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:00 am.
