Zelda Jacobs, age 81 of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford surrounded by her loving family. Zelda was born in Bronx, NY, a daughter of the late Irving and Sylvia Fishbone. Zelda's greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and numerous friends who she called "family". Anyone who met Zelda encountered a fun loving, bright woman, but it was her gorgeous red lips, Revlon's "Love That Red", that became her signature trademark. She was a veracious reader, loved her old movies on TMC and found joy in listening to classical music. Zelda had her weekly games of Bridge and Maj Jong with the ladies and challenged her children and grandchildren to some pretty competitive games of Scrabble, Cribbage and Nertz. She loved the beach and the ocean so it was all so fitting for her to spend her finals hours in the serenity of the shoreline. Zelda was very accomplished in her professional life. She was associated with Perkin-Elmer for many years as a Manager of Corporate and Community Relations. She served as a Member of The Board of Directors for United Way of Norwalk & Wilton, Children's Connection and PE Employee Good Neighbor Fund. She was also the Past President and Treasurer for the Fairfield County Contributions Group. Zelda had a passion for volunteerism and was the Coordinator & Mentor for the Norwalk Adopt-A-School Program which she instituted at Perkin-Elmer. She received the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award for Voluntary Action Center of Mid-Fairfield, the Matrix Award from The Association for Women in Communications and was named Honorary Citizen for The City of Norwalk. Zelda is survived by her devoted daughters, Ilene Kramer and her husband Richard, Abby Wilm and her husband Thomas, cherished brother Sanford Max Fishbone, and by her adored grandchildren, Nicole Wilm, Alexandra Kramer, Jessica Wilm, Ashley Kramer and Linsey Kramer. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Congregation Or Shalom 205 Grassy Hill Road, Orange, CT.
