Albert Giannantonio Obituary

NEWTON –– Albert G. Giannantonio, 79, died peacefully Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Albert was a lifelong resident of Palisades Park and devoted family man, born into a family of 10 siblings that remained close for their entire lives.
Loving son of Antonio and Louisa Giannantonio, he is survived by his sister, Christine, and brothers, Peter, Eddie and Gene. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Frank, Nick, Anthony, Emil and his sister, Phyllis. Al was a devoted husband who cherished his wife, Dolores. He was a loving dad of four children, Donna, Susan, Albert and Jeff. Cherished grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of nine.
Al would entertain his grandchildren, young family members and friends with his card and magic tricks and mesmerize them with his monkey impersonation. For his entire life his happiest times were when he was surrounded with family and friends.
Al was a painter for most of his working life, and was well known as the owner of "Mr. G's", pizzeria and restaurant in Palisades Park. Many would remember Mr. G as their Little League or Babe Ruth baseball coach. He was also past president of the Pal Park Little League.
Al was the "King of Jokes"; he got so much happiness from making people smile and laugh. His love, support and fun loving personality is irreplaceable and will forever be missed. We love you, Dad! God bless your soul.
The family will receive their friends Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, 327 Main St., Fort Lee, opposite the Fort Lee Library. A prayer service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
