Anna F. Barbarise

WEST MILFORD - Anna F. Barbarise, 95, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Milford Manor Nursing Home in West Milford. Mrs. Barbarise was born in Plymouth, Pa., on Dec. 21, 1912, the daughter of Francis and Pauline Kocha Tensar. She had resided in Newark and Sussex before moving to the Glenwood section of Vernon to reside with her daughter, Paula Clayton.

Mrs. Barbarise worked at Bendix in Teterboro for many years. She later worked as a waitress at Tom's Restaurant in Newark and then as a nurses aide in Essex County in the 1970s. She was a member of Vernon Township Senior Citizens Lunch Bunch. She served as a corporal with the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gani Barbarise, in 1979; her sisters, Nell Sadowski and Mary Tensar; and her brothers, John and Jake Tensar.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Barbarise is survived by a sister, Sally Tensar of Freehold; two grandsons, James Clayton and his wife, Victoria, and David Clayton; and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon.
