Daisy E. DePue

FRANKFORD - Daisy E. DePue, 84, of Frankford Township, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at The Homestead in Frankford Township.

Born in Orange, Mrs. DePue lived in Lafayette before moving to Frankford Township in 1949. She was the co-owner of DePue's Cleaning Service in Frankford Township from 1969 until her retirement in 1993. She worked as a telephone operator at a very young age and had formerly worked at Space Farms as a cashier..

An avid bowler, Mrs. DePue was a member of the Newcomers Bowling League, the Monday Morning House League and the Sparta Sunday Night Mixed League. She was a member of the Beemerville Presbyterian Church, where she served as treasurer and deacon, and was involved in the Ladies Aid group of the church. She also was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Beemerville Fire Company. A dedicated Mets fan, Mrs. DePue loved her family above anything and held an annual family picnic. She especially enjoyed potato salad and snickerdoodles.

The daughter of the late John and Laura (Anderson) Doyle, Mrs. DePue also was predeceased by her husband, Dayton, in 1993; her daughter, Mary Lou, in 1957; three brothers, Nelson Walker, Edward Doyle and John Doyle; and her sister, Winnie Snook. She is survived by four children, Betty DePue, of Sussex, Linda Mitchell, of Newton, Mike DePue Sr., and wife, Julianne, of Frankford Township, and Cindy DePue, of Sussex; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Oscar Doyle and wife, Barbara, of Florham Park; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at the Beemerville Presbyterian Church, 226 County Road 519, Sussex. Interment will follow in Beemerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
