She had been employed by the Hamburg Board of Education for 25 years as a food service worker and had retired 17 years ago. She had been a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association). She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey H. Schetting on Oct. 1, 1996. Mrs. Schetting is survived by her husband of 57 years, William H. She greeted everyone with a smile. "She continued a long and close friendship with her former co-workers, Lois, Nancy, Sally and Isabelle. "Everyone will miss her generous and loving ways. She sent cards for every conceivable occasion. At Christmas, she sent gifts all over the country which included her famous braided bread and jams, made with her loving hands. "She enjoyed baking and preparing entries for the fair and won many awards. She never hesitated to share her skills, knowledge and recipes with her sons, "daughters" and grandchildren. "She and Bill traveled extensively throughout the country, always stopping to spend time with far away relatives. "Doris and Bill spent many days and nights at their place in Sanford, N.Y., frequently in the company of their wonderful neighbors and friends, Gus and Maria Stefano. "She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and watch the birds and other wildlife in their yard. She lovingly and skillfully Ôput-up' all of the fruit and vegetables they grew. Their home was the site of countless birthday celebrations made special by her wonderful cakes and pies. "Her grandson Joe spent many of his childhood summers at their home in Hamburg. In 2004, his wife Jen was welcomed lovingly into the family. Doris maintained a close and loving relationship with her granddaughters, Lisa and Jamie in Arizona. Her granddaughter Amy was fortunate to live nearby and have a close and loving relationship with her grandparents. I miss the family gatherings and her holiday treats. Especially her classic homemade beaded bread that was the best! Truly a matriarch in the family something sadly missing in the modern family.

Mom you will never know how much I miss you. We had so many good times and those are the thoughts that I try to keep in my head every moment of every day that I think of you. So many people tell me what a special women you were, and I can never do anything but totally agree. I love you so much that it hurts when I realize that you are gone, I still wait to see you walk around the corner or call me to see how I am doing, and thinking about every one else's health and happiness before your own. Mom, I love you and miss you so much. I still will not say good bye, because I will see you again. I love you Mom.
