Florence Ayers Obituary

SANDYSTON - Florence "Flossie" R. Ayers, 99, of Sandyston, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at home.
Born in East Orange on June 30, 1917, Flossie moved to Sandyston in 1945. She was a former school board secretary and was the co-owner of Ayers Sanitation in Layton. Flossie was a member of the Delaware Valley United Methodist Church. A loving mother, her family was of the utmost importance to her. Flossie especially enjoyed giving hugs.
The daughter of the late Jay Herbert and Florence Marguerite (Kehrl) Reid, Flossie was also predeceased by her husband, Eldon D. Ayers, on Oct. 16, 2000; her twin sons, Gerald and Lawrence Ayers, on June 10, 2000; and her brother, Jay Herbert Reid Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jo-Ann Williamson and husband, Steve, of Layton; her son, Jay Ayers and wife, Lyn, of Camano Island, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Steve Williamson, Brad Williamson, Stacy Papp and husband, Greg, Megan DeVoe and husband, John, Nicole Ayers, Leah Ayers, Ryan Ayers, Jay Michael Ayers and wife, Lindsay, and Lauren Ayers; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. Interment will follow in Layton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860, or Delaware Valley United Methodist Church, 131 County Road 645, Sandyston, NJ 07826. Online condolences may be made at www.woodfuneralhome.net.
