Gary Delia Obituary

VERNON - Gary Leo Delia, 61, died unexpectedly Monday, May 9, 2011, in a plane crash in New Hampton, N.Y. Mr. Delia, son of Leo and Betty (Williams) Delia, was born in Paterson Dec. 14, 1949. He had resided in Vernon since 1986.

Mr. Delia was the owner of Site Concepts Inc. of Vernon. He served with the New Jersey National Guard from February 1969 to December 1973 and was a member of Sgt. Francis M. Glynn American Legion Post 132 of Franklin. He also was a charter member of the Legion Riders Motorcycle Club.

Mr. Delia was an avid pilot and scuba diver and also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles Program.

He was predeceased by his father, Leo Delia, and his sister, Kathy Delia.

Mr. Delia is survived by his wife, Debbie (O'Leary) Delia; his children, Justin Delia of Wantage, Alicia Delia of Vernon and Sarah Delia of Burlington, Vt.; his grandsons, Nicholas and Leo Delia; his mother, Betty Delia of Sparta; his sister and brothers, Linda Kipp of Sparta, William Delia of Pompton Plains, Lee Delia of Nutley and Darren Delia of Wayne.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday from at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon. A time of remembrance will follow at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, Attn: Honor and Memorial Gifts, P.O. Box 1245 Albert Lea, MN 56007-9976, ccfa.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Gary was a very special man who touched many lives. He was a man that was always there to help whenever anyone needed it and never looked for anything in return. Gary will be sadly missed. Gary, you may be gone from us here on earth but you sure did leave a mark on all our lives and we will never forget you. RIP
