James DeVeau Obituary

OGDENSBURG -- James DeVeau, 69, passed into eternal life on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at his home, after battling cancer. The son of James and Mae (Martin), he was born on May 12, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

James was a 'jack of all trades and master of none.' He worked as a painter in California and New Jersey and later became a truck driver in New Jersey. He was an avid fisherman and spent his life dedicated to his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa and uncle.

Mr. DeVeau is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Vera (Tarnowski) DeVeau; two sons, James Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Hale, Mich. and Barrett and his wife, Theresa, of Bayonne; a daughter, Donna and her husband, David Ross, of Ogdensburg; and four grandchildren, Michael Klick of Maple Shade, David Ross and Elizabeth Ross, both of Ogdensburg, and Danielle DeVeau of Michigan. He also leaves behind many loving family members who will deeply miss him.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy, at St. Thomas of Aquin R.C. Church, Ogdensburg. Cremation will be private.

Donations may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.
