Kenneth Haller Obituary

BRODHEADSVILLE, Pa. - Kenneth William Haller, 44, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Chestnut Hill Manor, Brodheadsville, after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease) and Pick's disease.

Kenneth was born June 19, 1964, in Philipsburg, the son of William and Elsie Benson Haller. He grew up in Washington, graduating from Warren Hills Regional High School in 1982. He graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 1987 with a bachelor of science degree. Ken was a star athlete in high school and college, where he played football and basketball. For much of his career he was a top sales representative for companies including Sommer's Inc. and Merck Pharmaceutical, along with helping develop marketing programs for two start up companies. Ken was also the cofounder of a successful real estate business in the Stroudsburg area, focused on rehabilitating homes to provide affordable housing for East Stroudsburg University students.

Ken shared his love of football as a referee for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association in the Poconos for many years and helped coach his daughters' basketball teams. He attended services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tannersville. Ken lived an active life, enjoying all sports, his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends.

Ken is survived by his loving parents, William and Elsie Haller of Andover; two beautiful daughters, Morgan and Cassidy Haller of Tannersville; three sisters, Lynn Fuller and her husband, Bruce, of Whitehouse Station, Diane Rossi and her husband, Mark, of Glenwood, and Karen Siegel and her husband, Mark, of Flemington; and eight nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 214 State Route 31 North, Washington. Due to limited seating, the family requests that only Ken's close friends and family attend the service.

A private cremation was held earlier in the month at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

A remembrance to Ken can be viewed at www. simplesite.com/bigken. Online condolences may be expressed on his Web site or at www. devoefuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Ken's name to the ALS Hope Foundation, P.O. Box 40777, Philadelphia, PA 19107 or www. alshopefoundation.org.

I am very sorry for the loss of a father and a friend. I can only hope Kenny is in a better place and looking down on us while the football Gods take him under his wing where he will live in his glory and youth forever. Kenny now you can live in the present and learn from the past. God bless you and your family !

Rose and family,

I am so sorry to hear of Kenny's death. I worked with him at the Pocono Family YMCA many years ago. It is good to read that Kenny went on to accomplish many great things in his short life. I pray his children will find solace in the arms of their loving family.
