Nellie Sheldon Obituary

Nellie R. Sheldon, 95, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Newton Memorial Hospital. Born in Warwick, N.Y, on May 21, 1912, Mrs. Sheldon was raised in Pine Island, N.Y., and lived in Sussex before moving to Newton more than 54 years ago. She was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Newton. Mrs. Sheldon enjoyed gardening and canning. The daughter of the late Jacob and Regina Mikrut, Mrs. Sheldon was predeceased by her first husband, John Van Duzer, and her second husband, Noah E. Sheldon; a loving son, Frank R. Van Duzer in 1998; and a loving grandson, William G. Storms, in 2002. She is survived by six daughters, Gloria Stormes and her husband, Robert, of Sussex, Esther Storms and her husband, William, of Flanders, Marlene Otoole of Larksville, Pa., Delores Van Duzer of Newton, Loretta Weldon and her husband, Thomas, of Greenwood, Miss., and Linda Del Bagno and her husband, Joseph, of Green; two sons, James Van Duzer of Newton and John Van Duzer and his wife, Rose, of Frankford; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held 10 a.m. today, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Mausoleum in Newton. Memorial donations may be made to the Newton First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 5, Newton, NJ 07860 or American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
