Steven J. Bogdewicz

VERNON - Steven J. Bogdewicz, 49, died after a short illness at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Born to Leon H. and Edna Bogdewicz in Teaneck, he had lived in Ridgefield Park before moving to the Scenic Lakes section of Vernon Topwnship 19 years ago.

Mr. Bogdewicz worked as a plant manager for Acme Engraving in Passaic for more than 25 years. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church in Vernon, enjoyed working on cars and was recently restoring a VW Beetle. He enjoyed music and was an avid volunteer in his community. A kind and generous man, Steve was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. Blessed with a great sense of humor, he was always ready to laugh and cheer you up. He will be greatly missed by everyone lucky enough to know him.

Mr. Bogdewicz was predeceased by his father, Leon H. Bogdewicz, and was the beloved husband of Cheddy (Pagan) Bogdewicz. He was the devoted father of Derek and Rebecca Bogdewicz, of Vernon; dear brother of Carol Ginglen of Lavallette, Walter Bogdewicz of Vernon, Barbara Wilkens of Leonia and Thomas Bogdewicz of Ridgefield Park; and the loving son of Edna Bogdewicz of Ridgefield Park. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon, N.J., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Thursday at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Francis d eSales Roman Catholic Church, Vernon, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow. Memorial gifts to the family for the children's college funds would be appreciated.
