Carol Kathleen Simpson

1924 - 2022

Carol Kathleen Simpson December 20, 1924 - January 6, 2022 Carol Simpson went to join her Bill on January 6, 2022. Born on Dunnigan Ave., IN THE BLUME FAMILY HOME that was formerly The Old South Cle Elum School. She was the youngest of 5 in the Louis and Mabel Blume family. Following a fire that destroyed their home the family moved to Cleveland Avenue in South Cle Elum. Carol lived the rest of her life, 97 years on Cleveland Avenue in South Cle Elum. Carol passed at home while being cared for by her loving family.

Carol attended school in South Cle Elum and graduated from Cle Elum High School. In 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Simpson. To this union 3 children were born: Jim, Charlotte, and Bradley.

Over the years while raising their family, Carol also worked outside the home. She worked as a clerk for the NWI Store, the water clerk for the Town of South Cle Elum and Irelands Jewelry Store and as the office manager for Puget Power. Following her retirement; she kept the books for DeVere & Son's Distributing.

Carol enjoyed camping, sewing, knitting, and following the Cle Elum Warriors. Basketball was her favorite. Bill and Carol were always at a game, together they participated in many other community activities.

She was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Her faith was evident throughout her life.

Her life revolved around her family. The more involved she was the better she liked it. We all did our best to make that happen. Lunch at grandma and grandpas every Saturday! Kids grandkids, dogs, cats, and friends did not matter, they were happy. Fried ham & roasted cheese YUM! This was a family tradition for more than 55 years.

Carol is survived by her children Jim (Judy) Simpson of Cle Elum, Charlotte (Jim) DeVere of South Cle Elum and Brad (Rhoda) Simpson of Ellensburg. Six grandchildren; Jeff and Jason DeVere, Shannon and Chelsey Simpson, Chris, and Ryan Simpson, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She predeceased by her husband, Bill, parents, three brothers, Fred Blume, Edward Blume, Bob Blume, and sister Charlotte Ray.

At her request private family services will be held followed by a picnic at the South Cle Elum Fireman's Park.
