Cerro Torre Scherer

1999 - 2025

Cerro Torre Scherer March 22, 1999 - July 18, 2025 Cerro was born and raised in Roslyn, Washington, across from the city park where he spent his childhood playing with friends and exploring the woods with his dog. He was a quiet but happy and joyful child that loved his legos, books, and Thomas the Train.

He attended Cle Elum Roslyn School through his junior year. Longing for adventure, he spent his last two years of high school at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea, Hawaii. There he learned to scuba dive and made friends from around the world. Cerro went on to get a bachelor's degree in financial economics from Western Washington University, which suited him well with his love of following the stock market. While there he worked as a custodian, where he loved working with all of his coworkers.

While at Western Washington University he met the love of his life, Shannon Manfield, while doing volunteer work for the City of Bellingham. They moved back to Roslyn together, back to his childhood home where they were starting a beautiful life. Together they enjoyed building a garden, caring for their pets, and playing video games. Cerro worked at Central Washington University in the financial aid department, where he helped others make their way through university. He loved his job and worked tirelessly to be the best he could be there. He loved his coworkers and was well-loved back.

Cerro is survived by his parents, Geoff Scherer and Tuesday Bosch, his grandparents, George and Carla Scherer and Sheri Grangroth, and his beloved Shannon Mansfield. Cerro touched many lives with his quiet but sincere manners and with his subtle sense of humor; never an unkind word did he utter. He will be so missed.
