Coleen Armstrong Obituary

ARMSTRONG

Coleen Ann Armstrong, 69, died in her home on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. She was born to Allen Carr and Carol Murray in Willowick, Ohio on September 7, 1946, and attended Bowling Green State University. She was a high school English, German and Spanish teacher for 31 years in Hamilton City Schools. During that time, she won both state and national recognition for excellence in teaching. As a local TV talk-show host, beginning in 1990, Coleen conducted in-depth and on-location interviews and wrote and narrated city-oriented documentaries. She established a solid career as a freelance writer, publishing hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles while still in the classroom. From 1999-2002, she was editor and feature writer for Design Magazine, and continued as senior contributing editor for Cincinnati Magazine. She has published 2 books and was working on a third, while coaching aspiring authors and working as a freelance writer/editor. She is survived by 2 daughters, Sallie Conyers and Jill Aston, sons-in-law John Conyers and Scott Aston, and 7 grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Abby, and Alexa Conyers, and Bennett, Grant, and Claire Aston. She also leaves behind sister Gael (Don) Windom, brothers Tim (Sulja) Carr and Kevin Carr, and life-long friend Janet (Duke) Baker. Services will be held at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 3080 Homeward Way, Fairfield, Ohio, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 with visitation from 5-7pm and service at 7pm.

We have many fond memories from years ago, visiting at BGSU and in the early years of our marriages at our apartment and first homes. Recent emails and a family birthday party kept us connected, just melting time away. Coleen will not be forgotten by all who knew her. Rest in peace.
