With blessings to all the Hedrics Family. There's probably not more than a few days, maybe a week or two, when Craig doesn't come up in my thoughts or conversations. I take any opportunity to refer to something Craig said in private, when Prosecutor or on his bench. I am proud to have known him. Craig was always there to listen to and provide a not-for-publication joke, of course about his kid's sports, Miami Redskins. My wife graduated Miami too. In the same ceremony as Ben Roethlisberger. Craig liked to tell the story of the Miami football Coach, Terry Hoeppner, who claimed he signed Ben, because he was the only coach who learned how to properly say his last name! Actually Coach Hoeppner verified this "fact" when he was guest speaker at one of our WC-Liberty Rotary Friday morning breakfast meetings. The 12-13 years I was around Craig seems like a lifetime of good memories. I still have a bunch of stories with and about Craig to share. My recollections about Craig have been influenced by a fairly recent (it seems) loss of our oldest grandchild, Parker, who was only 16. He and my daughter lived with us for almost his first 9 years and then they moved all the way to Trenton. Every time we visit Parker's site (on Oxford-Trenton Road) my thoughts drift to Craig and others who rank up there. Again, my blessings to all the Hedrics'.

We went to Talawanda High School at the same time. I graduated 1978 and he graduated 1979, he was a great friend in high school, we would talk all the time. He was a great friend. I will miss you my friend.

So glad I caught up with Craig after a 30-ish year lapse

So terribly sad. I know the loss for Hedric family is huge and Kay and I extend our sincere condolences. But just having seen Craig at Kristina Ponder's wedding and reconnected with him after 30 years makes it all so shocking. He was a good man and leaves a big hole to fill.

Mr. and Mrs. Hedric, I was so sad to hear of this tragedy. Craig was a great big brother type to grow up next door to. He gave me laughs and was fun to run in to at basketball games. I will always be grateful to have known him!

November 23, 2016

Please accept our condolences. His unexpected death is a tragic loss to his family, friends, and the Butler County legal community.

To the Hedric family...condolences for the loss of Craig. I will miss talking with him or the occasional e-mail over the state of Miami football and basketball. I was able to get to know Craig from mutual friend Dave Purcell, as I heard many stories of Craig, Dave and Adam Waltzer managing the basketball team headed by Ron Harper and gang over the past 30 years. He was a familiar face at Millett Hall or Yeager Stadium and I will miss him greatly. He was a proud son and a proud father and husband. My prayers are for you to remember all of the good about him, and what he accomplished. God bless your family

Annette, I was shocked to learn of Craig's sudden passing. I know you are a strong woman and will be devoted to your children. I don't know why the Lord takes all the good ones, and Craig was sure one of them. I have missed you and if I can help in any way, please call on me. Love to you and family.

My heart and prayers are with you and your family. Lean on God for strength. IN my losses, I knew God was holding on to me before I even ask for strength. HE will carry you through. Yell, scream, cry. It doesn't matter. God understands the pain as he felt when he gave his son Jesus for us. I've been where you are today. God will help one day at a time. Blessings to all. Annette and family.. our deepest sympathies. As a young lawyer, Craig was always someone I wanted to be around. He understood the human aspect of clients and how to work for a fair result. As a prosecutor and well respected judge, you always knew that fairness was his goal.

I was proud to call him a friend and colleague and now am sad he has passed way too soon. He will be sorely missed by many.

Craig was one of those very rare individuals whom I consider to be anchors in my life. He always had time to visit, whether it was at some social gathering, or at Kroger's when he was picking up dinner or drinks for one of the kid's teams. Craig's smile was warm and friendly and with not just a bit of quiet strength and confidence. Annette, Taylor and Alyssa..., he was a great guy. He will be missed by those who even knew him from a chance meeting. My first "meeting" with Craig was when he was a prosecutor and I ended up being a jury foreman. There have been a whole bunch of years since then and many enjoyable memories. Craig, my prayers go out to your family. May you rest in peace, Pal.

Annette and kids, Coach, Jan, and Kim, words can't fill the hole, but please have hope for strength and peace as you work through this grieving. "HONORABLE", as an adjective, not just a title, is the best way I can describe Craig. He was like a "Little Brother" to all of us who were lucky to be a part of the Miami University Men's Basketball Team during the 70's. You have lost a fine man. We'll miss you 'Cedric'.

annette
i have many wonderful memories of sharing our profession with craig. he and i tried many difficult criminal cases and would share strategies and plans. he moved on to be a highly respected prosecutor who tried many important cases. he then took his experiences to the bench where he was respected as a judge who understood cases from both perspectives.
i can hardly believe he is gone. too good a man and too soon. i recently retired and craig was the last judge i met with to express my gratitude for his fairness in my cases and to reflect upon our cases over the years. i wish you and your family the best in this difficult time. know that he accomplished much in our profession. he was a good friend in addition to a good colleague. our thoughts are with you.

Annette, Taylor, and Alyssa - I want to reach out and express my deepest condolences for your loss. As an attorney, I was fortunate to build a friendship with your husband and father. He was a mentor to so many and someone I could go to with questions or for advice. I am grateful for his guidance and assistance. Our discussions would consist of 10% business, 10% golf, and 80% our families. I pray that you all find peace and comfort knowing how much he loves you.

My heart goes out to The Hedric Family, as i went to school with Craig. And he was always a sweet guy. He always knew how to cheer you up or give you that smile to brighten your day. I wasn't feeling too well at school as I had just gotten braces. He looked at me and gave me his famous smile and said, stainless steel gives sex appeal. I never forgot this, he made my day and from that day on I was proud of my braces just as he was his. He really knew how to bring a smile to your face with his gentle personality and kind heart. I am very sorry for your loss. I am sure he has given you all lots of great memories. My condolences to you the Hedric Family.

What a shock to learn of Judge Hedric's death. Whenever I was in the Courthouse, I made a point to try to see him just to say hello. He presided over my last jury trial. Whenever we saw each other I inquired about Coach Hedric, who I knew through Miami/UD basketball. The legal community is surely lessened by his death. The family is in my prayers.
