David Kent Noran
Ft. Thomas - Died peacefully at Highlandspring on June 17th, 2018 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky at the age of 78. David had an eight-month battle of complications following surgery to remove a tumor from his brain in October of 2017. David is survived by his son, David Kenton Noran and Debra Noran; his brother and sister, John Noran and Shirley Whitacre; nephews, Jerry Noran and David Whitacre; and other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and John Noran. David was born on August 24, 1939 in Lakewood, Ohio to Mabel and John Noran. He graduated from University of Cincinnati in 1965 with a master's degree in Civil Engineering. He then became a long-term city manager for the city of Fort Thomas. After the city, he founded Cardinal Engineering in Wilder, Kentucky which he served as president until retirement. David was an avid antique car collector who was known nationally for his rare collection and knowledge of early American brass cars. He was an extremely intelligent and caring individual who loved to tell stories and who was passionate about his family, his cars, and the city of Fort Thomas. In his free time, he enjoyed playing tennis with his friends, reading a good book, walking his dog Sabrina, or partaking in the restoration of century old cars. He was an active and dedicated member of the Highland Methodist Church and Antique Automobile Club of America and often volunteered on many local boards for the benefit of the community. David was blessed to have many wonderful friends over his lifetime. To mention a few, Shelby Frazer of whom he has known since 7th grade, was one of his closest friends for over 65 years. Another dear friend was Bob Leurck, long-time business partner and later father-in-law. Bob stayed by David's side almost every day throughout his eight-month battle. David also had many important friends throughout his life, with many supporting him during his last months including, Jeff Earlywine, Teresa Gillum, Don Brindle, Andrew Modrall, and Richard Garsia. A church service is scheduled for 1:00PM on July 7th, 2018 at the Highland United Methodist Church in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, with a Celebration of Life to follow immediately after. Pastor John Bowling will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David's life.
