David Venneman Obituary

FORT THOMAS – David James Venneman, former president of United Audit Systems, a vice president with Central Trust Bank and co-founder of Regal Maids Cleaning Service in Fort Thomas, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at his home from complications of primary progressive aphasia. He was 68.

He was born in Covington and raised in South Newport. He was the fifth of six children of John and Anne Venneman.

"He found it strange and interesting that he was 10 years younger than his oldest sister and 10 years older than his youngest sister," said his wife, Connie Venneman.

He graduated from Newport Central Catholic High School before earning a degree in accounting from Thomas More College. He served in the Army Reserves.

He met his future bride, Connie Greco, through mutual friends. They married in 1966. They lived for a time in Newport, and then settled in Fort Thomas.

He began his career with Central Trust Bank in Cincinnati in the collection department, working his way up to vice president. He left the bank in the mid-1980s to be a vice president with Reinert Manufacturing, located in Erlanger at the time. A few years later, in 1986, he and his wife opened Regal Maid Cleaning Service. In the early 1990s, he became president of United Audit Systems in Cincinnati. He retired from UAS in 2000. His son, Andy, had taken over the leadership of Regal Maid, but he continued to help out with the company until he fully retired in 2005.

Mr. Venneman was a member of St. Therese Church in Southgate and a participant in the Covington Diocese Cursillo spiritual renewal program.

"He was the most patient and caring person I'd ever met. The Cursillo magnified that in his heart. It just made it more necessary and important to him to be kind and to help others," his wife said.

"He volunteered serving dinners each month at the Drop Inn Center in Cincinnati and our house was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay, whether it was for one night or many. David was that person you came to and he would graciously help."

He played baseball in his younger years, enjoyed golfing, fishing and Xavier Basketball games.

Along with his wife, survivors include his sons, Andy Venneman of Southgate, John Venneman of Fort Thomas; sisters Carol Lucans of Southgate, Judi Brown of Fort Thomas, Linda Williams of Erlanger; brothers Bob Venneman of Cold Spring and Don Venneman of Pawtucket, R.I.; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. today at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Burial will be in the St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Memorials: Hospice of the Bluegrass, 7388 Turfway Road, Florence, KY 41042; or St. Therese Parish, 11 Temple Place, Southgate, KY 41071.

Dear Aunt Connie -- Uncle David was the only man I have ever known who always treated everyone he met with loving kindness, from the very wealthy to the homeless, from the very old to the very young. He always offered a kind word and a smile to all of us, and he was always eager to lend a helping hand, no matter what. You two are just alike that way. Love you, Donna
