Frank VIETH Obituary

VIETH

Frank Albert Vieth, 88, of Ft Thomas died peacefully July 22, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Ft. Thomas. He was retired from the Ky State Revenue Dept & later volunteered with the Sheriff's Dept at the Campbell County Courthouse. Frank was preceded in death by his sister Jeanne Stevenson. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Judy (Sis Laber) Vieth; Sons Jim (Mary) - Ft Thomas, Bill (Linda) - Independence & Frank - Cold Spring; 5 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren. Pvt 1st Class Vieth was a proud WW II veteran of the 22nd Quarter Car Co., 5th Army Division (also serving with the 7th Army; the 693rd Airborne Anti-Aircraft/Machine Gun Battery and II Corps). He participated in the Battle of Anzio, the Allied Invasion of Sicily, Naples-Foggia, the Liberation of Rome & campaigns in the Northern Appenines & Po Valley. He was awarded the "European African Middle Eastern" ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars. Frank was also one of the original members of Lawler-Hanlon VFW Post 5662 Newport. His body was donated to UC Medical School. After research his cremated ashes will be interned at the Williamstown Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
