Gordon Waldespuhl Obituary
Gordon Karl Waldespuhl, Sr. of Erlanger and formerly of Dayton, Ohio passed away Sunday. He was a 47 year member of the PGA and a mechanical engineer. He was the original Golf Pro at the World of Sports, Florence and continued to serve as a Pro over the years at Boone Aire Golf Club, Summit Hills Country Club, and Wyoming Country Club and in Sidney, Ohio. He was a touring Pro on the PGA Senior Tour for nearly 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Christine Profitt Waldespuhl of Erlanger; sons, Kristopher Gordon (Tracey) Waldespuhl of Covington and Gordon Karl Waldespuhl, Jr. of Erlanger; daughters, Alicia (Robert) Fugitt of Sweetwater, TN and Alegra (David) Spille of Florence; sister, Mary (Clyde) Holcomb of Cement City, MI; brother, Marvin Fortier of Michigan; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation 5-8 pm Wednesday at the MIDDENDORF-BULLOCK FUNERAL HOME, ERLANGER. Catholic Blessing to immediately follow at 8:00 pm. Interment will be 11:00 am Thursday at the Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, Centerville, Ohio. I was a Professional Tour caddie working on he Senior PGA Tour when "Rabbits" , Monday Qualifiers, could play their way into an event. Gordon was one of those players. I worked for some top players, i.e. Chi Chi Rodriguez, Gary Player , Bruce Crampton, so I knew a good player when I saw one. Gordon had game! What I will always remember about him, was that he was really a nice gentleman. He was always very friendly and pleasant. I am truly sorry to hear about his passing.

I am sorry I missed Gordon's funeral. I was out of town and was not aware of his passing. My wife and I will say our prayers.

As a junior golfer in the early 1970's, he took the time to work with me, especially on the short game. Boone Aire days. I still prefer bump & run chipping because of him. RIP!

I remember competing against "Cowboy" in our high school golf league. A good golfer and a good guy. Condolences and regards to his family, and a tip of the cap to him. Art Shone, Fairview High 1947-51.
