There was a point in time in our lives where Grant and I were inseparable. The best of friends. It's been a very long time since I've seen him, but I thought about him frequently, and hoped he was doing well. The service was beautiful, and I'm glad to hear he was in a good place with people he loved. What a tragedy. A genuinely good human being. Gone too soon in every sense. I always thought we would reconnect some day and I looked forward to that day. It's devastating that we'll never get that. All my love goes to his family. We lost a good one.

Grant was ever the gentleman, a bright and caring host that made our dinners precious. We loved his wit and wine tips, his fond stories and of course his charm. Godspeed, handsome Grant. We will miss you every Friday. Jeanne and Michael

Honoring Mary's request for Grant to join our Cub Scout troop brought many unforeseen benefits. Grant was a delight to have in our troop as he was attentive, kind and thoughtful. Our friendship with the Pattersons grew quickly as we both had lived in Cincinnati before moving to Massachusetts. This friendship led to spending many Thanksgivings together and had the feel of extended family. We always enjoyed our conversations with Grant and appreciated his insights as well as his sense of humor. We are so sad that Grant will no longer be present at our gatherings but he will be forever in our memories.

Dear Mary and Al,
Although I never met Grant I enjoyed listening to you talk about him and the girls when we worked together in Doha. I could tell he was a kind, funny, intelligent person because he would be just like his parents. My love and prayers are with you.

Al, Mary and family,
I'm so saddened to hear about Grant. I have fond memories of spending time with you all when I was younger. Although I was a bit older than your kids, i know my parents cherished your friendship and i always knew it would be a fun time when the Patterson's were involved. I'll be praying for healing, positivity and peace in your hearts!

Al, Mary, Lindsey and Carly, I'm at a total loss for words, but I will share a few thought. Grant will truly be missed. I have fond memories of spending time with Grant and Lindsey when they were younger. Carly came along a little later. Of course, being an older cousin I was always eager to do fun stuff with them. I will never forget the Easter Bunny costume or being the "reindeer" at Christmas. Who could forget crazy Cha Cha? He was a great dog. Oddly enough, Grant and Cha were peas in a pod. Both, so full of energy. Thanks for those memories.
