Greg Herrmann Obituary

Greg Herrmann

Union - Greg's final flight left in the early morning hours of November 23rd for some much-needed rest and a reunion with his brother Michael, his dad Bill and his beloved pups Molly and Maggie.

He currently cannot be reached by cell phone.

In his time here, Greg gave us the best memories of our lives. He showed us what it meant to be a truly great human. He gave selflessly and asked nothing in return. He would say it was a fault. "I just can't say no." It was not a fault. It was a gift, and for that we are forever grateful. He kept our cars running, planes flying and hearts laughing. Thanks buddy! You made it fun.

Husband to the lovely Diane and Dad to their three dogs: Hailey, Callie and Lilly. Son to Coach Bill and Jenny Herrmann. Brother to Michael (whom he loved dearly). Uncle to Shooby and Michael. Greg had an extensive "extended family" as well. Tom, Garrison, Greg (Tate), Jay, and all the boys and girls down at the airport. He loved us all! He may not have said the words often (in fact saying the actual words would make him a bit "uncomfortable") but we knew. And we loved the big guy right back.

We could not have made it without you buddy!

Thank you for the time you shared with us. We only wish we had a little more.

In memory of Greg, LOVE EACH OTHER folks! It goes by fast.

Being as Greg loved dogs far more than flowers, we ask that donations be made in his name to Lucky Tales Rescue (luckytalesrescuce.org.)

And Greg, if you read this, our later flights are not yet scheduled. But meet us at the gate. We'll see you then

Love you.

I'm glad you married my sister. She could not have done any better if she had spent all of her life looking. Please check in on her from time to time... and your two new "kids." We all miss you.

I'll always remember "Diane's Greg" as the kind of husband many girls dream of, but few of us find.

The tribute was wonderful!

For whatever reason, I'll always remember looking out the big window at Herrmann's Mountain and seeing Greg on the riding mower ... or in the garage with his head under the hood of a car. Always helping, always reliable, always supportive.

Thank you for the supportive words you said to me the last time I saw you, Greg. They meant a lot to me. And thank you for the reminder to LOVE EACH OTHER. It does go by fast.

Here is one of my favorite photos of Diane & Greg. It was taken 11/28/2003.

Greg was one of those special people who was always willing to help others, humble, pleasant, and the epitome of a "nice guy". He was always there to help out during our Cincinnati Warbird events and had the skill, patience and tenacity to keep my T-28 flying. He loved his dogs, keeping anything with an engine running, and being at Lunken.... and we loved being with him. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled.

I am a pilot friend of Greg's. He worked sometimes on our company airplane. He was so smart and could fix anything! I am so saddened to lose him. What a great guy! I am glad we have a Savior!

Greg was a great person he was never to busy to answer questions and give good aircraft advice. We had some great boating stories to talk about as well.
He will be remembered.

A humble man always willing to give of himself. I will miss our daily back and forth. His sudden departure has left a void that in so many ways will be difficult to fill. Godspeed Greg!

Greg was one of the nicest, most patient people I have ever known. It was always great to see him at Hangar 1 or out on the ramp, usually with one or more of his pups. Thanks for taking such good care of my plane, Greg, and for being such a sweet, good-humored guy—one of the people who make Lunken Airport such a special place. You will be greatly missed on this earth. So sorry for your loss, Diane.

Greg is awesome. He was quietly passionate, extremely competent in his work and willing to share with anyone. He told me his biggest joy was passing his knowledge on and helping people. I can vouch for that because he helped me immensely. I will miss him terribly. Life is not quite the same without him.
