John Smith Obituary
John C., (87), beloved husband of Ruth, loving father to Melissa (Greg) Shaffer, Mark (Lisette) Smith, and Diana (Lou) Batsch. Treasured Opa of Joshua (Bridget), Julianne (James), Jamie (Korban), Evan and Grace. Adored by his great-grandkids, Adelyn and Sean. With family by his side, John passed from this journey to the next May 23, 2017. Predeceased by parents Verald and Zada and sister Josephine. A graduate of Marquette University, John served with the Army in Alabama, followed by a long career as a mechanical engineer with GE. After retirement he was an avid world traveler with a special fondness for Germany, Switzerland, and a certain back porch in Florida. Dear to his heart were the family farms in Iowa where many a wonderful day was spent working the fields. With his dear Ruth by his side, every path with a view was a path worth travelling. What a privilege to have known and be loved by him. He is missed. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45223, 513-853-1035. Inurnment Spring Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or a charity of your choice. Sympathy may be expressed at
