Robert Stricker Obituary

STRICKER

Reverend Robert A. Stricker, was called home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, surrounded by dear friends and family. Born May 25, 1923, and raised in Norwood, Ohio by his beloved parents Elmer and Lottie Stricker, he was proceeded in death by his siblings Raymond (Agnes), Harold (Mary), Elmer (Joan) and Mary (Jim) Conroy. Father Bob (as his family called him) leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that are truly grateful for his thoughtfulness, wisdom, and courage. His love, honor, charity and dedication to God was an inspiration to all who knew him. Fr. Bob was ordained for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 1948. He studied at the Angelicum in Rome, where he earned a Doctorate in Sacred Theology before returning to Cincinnati. He was assigned to St. William Church (Price Hill) while teaching at Elder High School from 1950 - 1955. In 1955, he was sent to study Library Science at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He earned a Master degree in Library Science. Fr. Bob went on to become a Librarian at the Athenaeum of Ohio (Mt. St. Mary's Seminary). Later, he was appointed archivist of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Fr. Bob was appointed to several other positons within the Archdiocese until June of 1974, when he was appointed as the assistant and later co-pastor at St. James, the greater. In 1977, Fr. Bob became the pastor of St. Boniface Parish (Northside) until his retirement in 1993. Retirement only seemed to keep Fr. Bob busier than ever. You could often find him celebrating Mass at St. Therese Little Flower as associate pastor. He also spent his days of retirement ministering to those in need. The humblest of men, he would only tell you that he was serving God when given any compliment or praise. Reception of the Body will be Monday, March 27, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Church, 1750 Chase Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45223. Visitation will continue until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank Fran Klosterman for her friendship and help to Fr. Bob over the years. Memorials can be made in Lieu of flowers to Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center, 332 Riverbend Road, Louisa, Kentucky 41230 or any charity dear to your heart. Arrangements entrusted to Spring Grove Funeral Homes.

Fr. Stricker was a wonderful priest, pastor and good family friend. He is today still deeply missed. His wit, humor and priestly guidance meant a lot to us and our family. He was there for us helping us in whatever situation our family was in. God Bless You, Fr. You were truly a wonderful man.

Fr. Stricker was associate pastor at Little Flower when our three children were in their early teens. At that time, our whole family participated in the Lay Ministeries one Saturday each month. Father Stricker was friendly toward our kids, especially Sarah with wihom he had a special bond. It happened that on one particular Saturday it was Sarah's birthday. As Father greeted congregation at the beginning of Mass, he invited everyone to wish Sarah not just a happy birthday , but a happy 18th birthday. When we heard anything about Fr. Stricher after that day, our family was reminded of this extra special gift to Sarah on big day

Fr. Stricker's homilies were often filled with his historical insights. As a Little Flower teacher, I remember that when he was saying Mass for the students, he really loved a martyr's feastday! He would say, "Now you might want to close your ears because I'm going to tell you how he/she died." Of course, he had the rapt attention of every single kid!
Seeing his quiet, humble devotion to God, and his service to others, spoke even more loudly than any words could, of his love for God. He was a terrific example of the way God wants us to live.

Judy and I extend our deep sympathy to the Stricker family and to all those whose lives were touched by Fr. Stricker.

Fr. Stricker was well liked by many.
I remember him as librarian at St. Gregory Seminary and in his retirement, as associate pastor at St. Therese Little Flower Parish.
I remember how Fr. Stricker would go out of his way to drive over to Mercy-Franciscan Hospital, Mt. Airy, when the need arose late in the evening or other inconvenient times, to anoint patients in urgent need to receive the Last Sacraments .

Fr. Stricker was a good person and a good priest.

Eternal rest grant unto Fr. Stricker, O Lord.
May he rest in peace.
And may he watch over us while he shines in the Perpetual Light of Our Savior at the Heavenly Liturgy.

Heaven got a wonderful angel

I am sorry for your loss. Isaiah foretold that in future we will enjoy life everlasting and death will no longer taunt our existence. May every tomorrow become a delight as you endure this difficult time.
