Socrates Rettos Obituary
Socrates J., of Liberty Twp., OH. Beloved husband and best friend of Lyn Rettos (nee Hange). Loving father of Brooke (Brandon Shean) Rettos-Shean and Blythe Rettos. Dear son of John and Reba Rettos of Coshocton, OH. Dear brother of Andrea (David) Glass of Sunbury, OH and Christopher (Dr. Jean) Rettos of Athens, OH. Socrates "Soc" passed away Monday, February 27, 2017. Soc was born June 29, 1959 in Coshocton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Coshocton High School and The Ohio State University. Soc was the Director of Print Quality Management at Phototype. He was lucky in life to have found his dream job with an amazing company and he enjoyed every minute of it. His life was spent in a quest for knowledge, challenge and most of all, adventure. Soc's unique personality led him first to become a private and then commercial hot air balloon pilot. His love of flying then inspired him to earn his license to become a fixed wing pilot. It is apparent how much Socrates loved his family and friends. He always carried a huge smile and enjoyed sharing his love of life with everyone he encountered. May his spirit float on a gentle breeze until we meet again. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11 AM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., Liberty Twp., OH 45044. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival, PO Box 1062, Coshocton, OH 43812, where Soc began his life passion for ballooning. I just read this and I am heart sick. Soc's took my husband and I up in our first ride for our 20th anniversary. We couldn't have had a better pilot to spend our special day with. My husband and I truly enjoyed Socs company. I am so very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him with so many.
