Adele Koska Atkins

ATKINS Adele Koska Atkins, resident of Ponchatoula and formerly of Hammond, died March 27, 2011 from complications of a stroke at Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, Louisiana. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Atkins was born in Houston, Texas and married Roy Atkins in 1940. She worked as a sales lady at Woolworths and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1956. She worked for D.H. Holmes Department Store in Lakeside until she moved with her husband to Hammond, LA in 1986. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hammond. Survivors include her two sons, Ronny Atkins of Ponchatoula, LA, Gary Atkins of Seattle,WA; two grandsons, David Atkins of Ponchatoula, LA, Nathan Atkins of Seattle, WA; four great-grandchildren, Colleen, Blair, Truman, and Bradley Atkins all of Ponchatoula, LA; one sister, Elizabeth Bell of Corrigan, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fritz & Jane Wilke Koska; and her brothers and sisters. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, LA on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and also on Wednesday after 9:00 am. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Mausoleum, Hammond, LA.
