Not sure what to say?

Your first Daughter-in-Law, Jane Bladsacker

February 22, 2011

When your name is mentioned many may remember you as the man with one arm or the man with the pretty eyes, but that does not truly define the man you were. What defines you to me is the love you showed from within. I will always be grateful for who you were to me...my perfect "Father-in-Law". My first memories of you over 30 years ago now, was the way you made me feel accepted, welcomed, and loved. I was just a scared little sheltered even shy girl of 14 when I first met you. I felt scared and insecure as I went to meet my "boyfriends family". I remember feeling very uncomfortable and fearful as I met a family very different than what I had been exposed to. Everyone was overtalking everyone else to get a word in. I wasn't sure if people were arguing or fussing... when really everyone was just louder than my quiet little home I was accustomed to. I withdrew in fear and had it not been for your sweet, loving demeanor that made me immediately feel accepted, I would have probably never came back. You took the time to get to know me...with no judgement or preconceptions of who I was. You got me! You understood I was reserved and a little shy and scared. You welcomed me right in your life and always defended me to others. You always believed the best about me... which the Bible describes as part of what love is... Love is always believing the best of others. And yes, you had beautiful eyes... but, you didn't just look with those eyes... you saw inside!!! As I stood by your bedside one day towards the end of your life here on earth, someone commented that even though you were looking right at me you didn't see me. Immediately, the thought came to my heart ... that's not true... I believe you saw me.... cause you ALWAYS SAW ME .... you saw within me and who I really was. I also watched pure love as you played and wrestled around with Janae, your first grandbaby. I have such sweet memories of you coming to see her every morning on your way to work and you and her would giggle and play! She would wait at the back door for you calling your name PAW PAW HONEY over and over till you showed up. It gave me such pleasure to watch you develop that special PAW PAW relationship with her out of pure love. I will also be forever grateful for the father you were to Doody, the love of my life! Children learn from what they see. He learned to be a wonderful husband, daddy, and PAW PAW from you and picked up that part of you that always believes the best in others! Were you perfect? No one is... but the Bible also says that love covers a multitude of sins.... you were so full of love ...all your faults were covered to me!!! You were my PERFECT FATHER-IN-LAW!!! Thank you for what your life here on earth meant to me and will always mean to me. I love you and I miss ya!

Al, knowing you and your partner Charles Knight tells me why Central Lafourche Welding was such a success. I am proud to have been a friend and associate in a business we both loved. You were a man with great knowledge of your profession and indeed an asset to your customers. My sympathy to your family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I will miss him. There are wayyyyyy toooo many memories to speak of. Uncle George will be very missed by his entire family, especially Aunt Barbara, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I bet he is in heaven having a great big reunion of his and Aunt Barbara's family.

Tell My Dad hello and that I love and miss him. You can rest in peace knowing that you raised a great bunch of children who will take care of Aunt Barbara. They had a good teacher.

To the family:

You can take great comfort knowing that you all were able to say your goodbyes. He knew how much you all meant to him. Let me know if I can do anything for anyone.

Love Gail
