Albert Rogers Obituary

Rogers, Albert Orin "Al", age 88, of Blanchard, MI, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, MI. As Al has requested not to have a funeral service, he will lay in rest at the Pine River Cemetery in Blanchard, MI until Jesus returns. A private graveside service will be held at the cemetery, with Pastor Lynn Berry and Elder Roger Wood officiating. Al was born in Forest Hill, MI on September 3, 1930, the son of Warren Christopher and Anna May (Beamer) Rogers. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On June 28, 1958 Al married Dorrene Parks in Alma, MI. He was retired from Liquid Transport as a mechanic in Alma, MI and was a carpenter and a handyman for many communities. Al has been retired for the past 26 years; he and his wife owned and operated Country Cottage Floral and Gifts in Elsie, MI before moving to Blanchard. Al enjoyed reading and watching old western shows on TV and working along with his wife in her cleaning business. He was a member of Blanchard Church of God where he had served as a deacon and a trustee. He always looked forward to the weekly bible studies and Sunday morning worship services and the fellowship dinners. Al did not always remember the grand children's names but he would say, “I know I love them". He is survived by his wife Dorrene Rogers of Blanchard, MI; daughter Lauri and Charles Follett, 2 sons: Terry and Terrie Rogers, Mark and Lisa Rogers, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister Edith Richards, and brother Earl and LaVonne Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rusty, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers. Memorials may be made to Palliative Care Program at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, 1500 Weiss Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI. Online condolences can be made at
