Allen T. Bixby Jr.

Allen T. Bixby Jr. passed away in his home on February 11 2022 at the age of 90. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Allen T. Bixby Sr. and Veronica Rudigier Bixby. Following high school he served with distinction in the U.S.Coast Guard. He is survived by his loving wife Alice Jones Bixby, his children Allen Bixby III (Martha) Carol Reynolds (James), Lynn Bixby, late Clifford Bixby (Donna). His grandchildren, Natalie Ware (Justin) Tyler Bixby, Gabriel Bello, late Emily Bixby, late Ciera Bixby. His great grandchildren, Adeline, Stella and Mabel Ware. "Big Al" was a successful businessman and entrepreneur. With his partner Bob Cohn, they created "The Carpet Workshop". They opened the doors in New Orleans in 1971 with the motto "Professionals serving Professionals". A few years later "Bixco Flooring and Supplies was opened to fill the need for wholesale distribution to the area retail stores. Bixco expanded to Baton Rouge in 1995. During this time he formed Bixby Realty, LLC, a real estate investment company. His devotion to his family, friends and business were unparalleled. As a husband and father you could always count on him to be there every time when needed. As an employer, he respected and admired his staff that worked with him for so many years. His friends and business associates always knew he had their best interest at heart. His unlimited generosity helped those that needed credit to help start their business, helped friends in need with family emergencies and countless stories of how he helped those in their time of need. The loyalty of friendship that he has acquired through the years can be heard in the voices of those who speak of Al. They are truly heartfelt. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling as well as listening to a good joke. When it came to golf, he loved watching as much as playing. Al lived life to the best of his abilities, one that will be admired for years to come. A private interment will be held at the Garden of Memories.
