Where do I even begin? To try and summarize the memories I have or the emotions I feel about you not being here anymore seems like something so very hard to do. I miss hearing Hey doll when I'd walk into a room that you were in; whether I'd seen you that morning at breakfast or 6 months later when I came home from Lafayette, it didn't matter - your face was always bright because I know how much you loved me and how much you loved your family. I feel like we lost a big part, a very influential part. Your faith is something I admire and respect and the long conversations we had about both life, faith, and everything in between, I will cherish. I'll remember you packing my lunch when Aunt Terri was out of town and somehow you and I were in charge of the house (OH BOY) and you made me a peanut butter and orange marmalade sandwich instead of apple jelly - it was horrid. But you did that because she packed my lunch everyday and you weren't going to let me go to school without doing the same. Even though we laugh so hard about that even now, it is just one thing I carry with me knowing how much you cared. I'll miss walking past your room at night while the black and white horse movies were blaring but until I can see you again, I'll hold on to all of those memories of being your roommate, right in the next room.

Anybody remember the phrase "You never know what you had until it's gone"? Well Paw Paw I knew what I had in a grandfather but didn't know how much I would miss it. I didn't know how much I missed our talks and conversations about life in all aspects. You are and will always be an inspiration to me and my family. I am very happy my children were so close to you and were able to see the man I adored. It's very hard to be without you after you were involved with so much in our lives. I think about you everyday and knowing I can't just go over to see you is upsetting. So now when I want to talk to you, I do it with Fats Domino Pandora radio. A few tears fall but it gets me by. I need to thank you for the most important influence of all and that is your Catholic faith teaching me the path I needed to follow. I know you and my angel are dancing in heaven and that fills my heart. I will see you again and I love you very much!

To my Little' Paw Paw,

One month ago today Our Lord revealed Himself to you, and knowing this makes that moment of loss sting much less. I think of you oh so often, and when I do, so many memories flood into my mind. I want you to know I realize how much of an impact you made on my life. These are just a few - but between the fishing trips in the spillway, our Godfather movie marathons during the Christmas Holidays, and our telephone conversations when life created miles between us in all of them my favorite memories are when you would talk and I would listen. I listened to your faith. I listened to your love of our family. I listened to your life experiences your mistakes and your successes, and you helped me grow to become the man I am today. Bottom-lineYou. Made. Me. Better. Aside from my amazing parents, you were next in line as the biggest influence in shaping my life. For that, I could never thank you enough. I know how much you loved me, and my main thought and prayer is that you know how much I love you. You may be gone, but your impact on my life was so great and will never be forgotten. I am going to miss you so much, but I will continue living each day knowing we will see each other again.

Your loving Grandson,
Derick

My memories of Uncle Allen range from scaring me under the table when I was a little girl to our talks about faith when he would come to Shreveport and help me in the yard. He was a constant source of laughter. His faith was inspiring. It definitely will not be the same without him here but EVERY time I think about him I smile. I am thankful that I had him in my life.

How do I say goodbye to someone who is so much to me, so much more than just my dad? You were a constant in my life, someone I always knew I could count on. You helped me out in so many ways. Cooking and cleaning, laundry, washing the bugs off my car, running errands for me, taking my jobs in to the office, that very-needed cup of coffee when I worked late into the night, and so much more.
You were my teacher of life lessons, travel companion, co-pilot and navigator, my grocery-shopping buddy, my casino partner, my cheerleader, my shoulder to cry on, my sounding board when I lost my temper, the voice of reason and understanding, and I know for sure that does not cover it all. We are thankful and so very blessed to have been able to share our lives with you every day for the past 19 years.
You weren't just my dad, you were my friend...you were truly my BEST friend.
A man who loved Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Catholic Faith, the Blessed Virgin Mary and his Rosary. Who is a true believer in the power of prayer and an advocate for the unborn. A man who was happy to share all he knew about our Catholic Faith and more.
A man with the biggest, kindest, giving heart, filling it with unconditional love for your children, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, your brothers and sister, mom and dad, and extended family and friends. But it didn't stop there. You were always looking to help the less fortunate, always finding ways to help those in need.
You always told us how thankful you were to have us and you showed us in your kindness and things you did for us. I know I heard those words of appreciation every. single. day. But it is we who are thankful, for God blessing us with you as our Dad.
An intelligent man, who possessed many talents, and were always willing to share those talents with others. Who taught us so many things. To be kind to others. To work hard and play harder. To live life to the fullest, but to thank God always and to make time for church and prayer. We were always greeted with a smile, you never met a stranger, loved people and sought the good in all people.
Who was a believer in second chances, and third. A man slow to anger and first to apologize, always forgiving and never holding a grudge. Who loved to laugh and to make others laugh. A master story-teller, always ready with a joke, told like no one else could. Who loved music, writing poetry and to sing and dance, and amazing at it all. Who loved working in your many vegetable gardens, flowers and nature, fishing, old westerns, playing the lottery, and your major passion, horses, the race track, ANY race track that raced thoroughbred horses, and the off-track betting...well, let's just say gambling.
I'm thankful for God blessing us with two more years with you. Two years that changed us all. Two years that were hard on you, but you never complained. Although spiritually prepared, you accepted each challenge and gave thanks for each day you were blessed to be with us.
Our life has changed since you left us. Not a day goes by that you aren't in my thoughts and prayers. I still want to talk to you every day. I want to tell you how much I love you and to thank you for being all that you were to me and my family. We will cherish all the wonderful, happy memories we made with you.
It's not goodbye, but "see you later." I know that we will be together again, but until then, I will miss you every day of my life.
I Love you, Monkey.
Terri

They say laughter is the best medicine! My Paw-Paw Chew kept his family laughing, probably from the time he could talk. For someone so small he had the biggest personality, sense of humor, and wit! If any of his best traits have been passed down to me, I hope it's that same zest for life, sense of humor, love of music, dancing, singing, horses, and people! Until we meet again Paw-paw! I love you! Allen Chew Weber, Sr. 1/19/18

On our wedding day after the reception, Chew
insisted that we borrow his new car to go on our honeymoon to Galveston, Texas. We were so excited because of the kindness and the love shown. We returned it in two months. Our car had already had "Just Married" all over the windows, etc. How funny! The newlyweds got the new car, and Chew had the "Just Married" car.
Chew, we love you and miss you. You made our family so happy. We love you and miss you.
