1980 - 2024

Amanda Kristen Cavalier Smith, 43, was a lifelong resident of Lakeview in New Orleans. Born in Metairie on October 5, 1980, she unexpectedly departed from us on January 23, 2024, succumbing to a brain hemorrhage caused by hypertension. In her passing, Amanda, a true hero, generously donated both kidneys, offering the gift of a better life to someone in need. She is preceded in death by her Husband & Soulmate, Richard (Dickie) Smith, her grandparents, Philip and Corinne "NaNa" Chisesi, and Stuart and Elaine Cavalier. She is also survived by her amazing & loving son, Skyler Dominici (Gabby), whom she was immensely proud of. Her incredible parents Leslie and Frances Cavalier, her sister and best friend, Allison Cavalier (Laurie), her brother, Jeremy Cavalier, for whom she had the utmost respect for & sister in-law Anna. She was surrounded by her family including her cousin Bryan Chisesi, Amber Heenan, Allison & David Sitton, & close friends Danny Dominici, Shauna Knutson, Cynthia Ford, Asher Cuthbert & Carra Sinclair all of whom kept a vigilant presence with her at the hospital. Amanda was remarkably funny, witty, and caring, possessing a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. She walked to the beat of her own drum, showcasing sensitivity, kindness, loyalty, love, and strength. Her love for children, gardening, plants, Halloween and above the knee socks was evident to all who knew her. Amanda was truly one of a kind, and the absence of her light and the force that she was in this world will be deeply felt by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Benilde Catholic Church, 1901 Division St., Metairie, LA: https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/WgioCrkvBxCVZ5pt7xS8O?domain=google.com. The visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am, with mass to follow at 11:00 am. A celebration of her life will ensue. In her honor, guests are welcome to wear knee-high socks. Instead of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in Amanda's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The burial will take place at a later date.
