Ann Barnett Obituary

On September 29th, 2023 Ann Hall Barnett went to glory peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was ninety-three years young. Ann was born in Bonita, Mississippi on June 18, 1930. In 1952 she married Howard Barnett, who adored her for fifty-four years. Ann and Howard moved to New Orleans in 1979, where they embarked on a wonderful new life. They were immediately embraced by the New Orleans community. It was in 1990 that Ann and Howard opened Hall-Barnett Gallery in the French Quarter, further enhancing the family's involvement in the arts community. During this time Ann developed an interest in painting, becoming an accomplished and prolific artist. Her art was beloved by friends in New Orleans, as well as collectors throughout the country. Ann and Howard enjoyed traveling and collecting around the world, creating friendships wherever they went. Ann delighted everyone with her style and Southern charm. Few people lived a more fabulous life than Ann Barnett! Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Barnett. Ann and Howard had three children, Kerry Barnett Parker (Paul), Ken Hall Barnett (Cherri), and Holly Barnett. Their five grandchildren are Lee Parker (Maggie), Ben Parker (Sterling Cato), Chloe Barnett Emery (Gray), India Barnett, and Stone Barnett. Their two great grandchildren are Rhodes and Molly Parker. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers who surrounded Ann with love and support. They will always be remembered in our hearts: Charlene, CeCe, Nicole, Renee, Karina, Patricia, and Jennifer. To view and sign the online guest book, please visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She and my mom (Joycelyn Exnicios) had a wonderful bond and I loved being around her. She lived life graciously and generously. New Orleans was lucky to have Ann and Howard call New Orleans Home. Blessings and condolences to her family.

Ann was my friend. A man knows no greater joy and honor than to be able to say just that. To her family . Thank you for lending me her love for 40 years.

Ann taught me so much about grace and humility. She exuded elegance without ever trying to be elegant, always charming, delightful, and FUN. I loved her voice and accent too. She was also an amazing designer. It all just came so naturally to her. She will be missed by all who knew her, even those who didn´t know her well.
