Ann V. Jelks

JELKS Ann V. Jelks, age 84, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemetery with interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana. Mrs. Jelks was born March 4, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Anna Bubelka Vrba and Joseph Vrba of Czechoslovakia. She was a communicant of St. Dominic Catholic Church in New Orleans, and more recently, a communicant of St. Francis Catholic Church in Madison, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus "Gus" Huff Jelks, Jr., her parents: Anna and Joseph Vrba, brother, Joseph Vrba, and sister, Emily Vrba Tolis. Survivors include, her children: Bonnie Robertson (Richard) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Sandra Jelks of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, A. Huff Jelks III (Laura) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Candace Riley (Paul) of Madison, Mississippi; grandchildren: Amy Whitney (Bryan), Christen Askea (Peter), Abby Robertson, Anna Jelks, Augustus H. Jelks IV, Paul "Cole" Riley, Jr., and Ryan Riley; and great-grandchildren: Adalynn, Aurey, Avyn, and Aleya Whitney, Kaden Robertson-Blakely, and Augustus Askea.
