Anthony Joseph Colletti

1930 - 2024

Anthony Joseph Colletti passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, of natural causes. An only child, Anthony was born on September 5, 1930, to the late Rose Locicero and Emmanuel Colletti (Helen Hollowell). He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Diane Baltar Colletti; children: Manuel (Lynette), Gerard (Lisa), Ronald, Steven and Darren; grandchildren: Justin (Ceili), Christopher (Gwen), Tony, Jackson and Carson; step grandson Christopher Rodriguez; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Finley, Lorelei, James, Armani, Anthony and Olive; step great-grandchildren: Kylie, Kara and Leighah; former daughter-in-law Ruby McBride, who he often referred to as "the daughter he never had"; and Granddog Sunshine. After graduating from SJ Peters High School, where he played clarinet in the school band, he attended Southwestern University under a music scholarship. After two years, he transferred to Loyola University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business. After college, Anthony entered the Army where he was deployed to the Panama Canal during the Korean War. In addition to a long career as the Director of HR and Safety at US Gypsum, Anthony worked many nights and weekends at a number of different businesses in order to provide for his family. After his official retirement from US Gypsum, he worked in the City of Kenner Finance Department. Anthony was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sorely missed by those who knew him. He is best known for his sense of humor, dancing skills, and passion for playing the slots at the Silver Slipper casino. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball for US Gypsum, golfing, and playing the Pitty Pat card game. He also had a love of Macadamia Nuts – chocolate covered or not. The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, especially Charlie Barbier (RN) and Bobbilynn "Bobbie" Tyler (CNA) for the respectful and loving attention they showed for Anthony in his final months. The family would also like to thank the Sisters Servants of Mary-Ministry of the Sick, in particular lay minister Tammy Maginnis, for her personalized, spiritual and compassionate nursing care. Heartfelt gratitude is also extended to friends Sandy and Wayne LeBlanc, Leah Held, and Sherry Campo for visiting frequently and offering to sit with Anthony when family was not available. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
