Antonio Barbagallo

Antonio "Tony" Barbagallo, 78, of Monongahela, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born December 5, 1938, in Martirano Lombardo, Calabria, Italy, a son of the late Luigi and Carmela Curcio Barbagallo.
After leaving Italy and moving to the United States in 1960, he began working construction and then later became a crane operator at the former Combustion Engineering Steel Mill in Monongahela until his retirement.
Following the closing of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Monongahela, he became a parishioner of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen and was a member of the former Italian Citizens Club in Monongahela.
Surviving are two daughters, Toni Marie and Tammy Barbagallo of Monongahela; and two brothers, Giovanni (Maria) Barbagallo and Octavio Barbagallo; three sisters, Natalia (Pasquale) Mastroinni, Concetta Bartolotta and Rosetta (Giuseppe) Borgia; sister-in-law Carmelina Barbagallo; and a cousin who was like a brother to him, Giuseppe Lanzo, all of whom remain in Italy, along with several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his wife, Mary Affinito Barbagallo, who died July 19, 1995; two brothers, Francesco and Vincenzo Barbagallo; and a sister, Santina Pucci.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:15 am Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
